Prof. George Knox datiert die vorliegenden Grisaillen in Dunkelgrün und Gold in das Jahr 1758. Sie waren Teil einer Serie von vier in Technik und Größe identer Gemälde. Zwei dieser Bilder befinden sich in der Sammlung Stanley Moss, New York, und wurden von Gemin und Pedrocco als Werke von Giambattista Tiepolo publiziert (vgl. Giambattista Tiepolo. I dipinti opera completa, Venezia 1993, S. 338, Abb. 245–246). George Knox schreibt: ‘The connection with the Tiepolo studio is indisputable, since in the item with the standong soldier in the centre, the woman and child on the left derive directly from Giambattista‘s etching,

Moreover the seated man on the right derives from an etching by Domenico after canvas by Giambattista, Armida and Adrastes in the National Gallery in London - Rizzi, 1981 (129) It should be noted that Lorenzo, in his early years, made something of a speciality of pen drawings more or less in the manner of Giambattista’s Scherzi. Compare, for example the drawing in the Lehman collection - Byam Shaw e George Knox, The Lehman Collection VI, New York, 1987 (176).Le grisailles in verde scuro e oro qui presentate sono state datate dal professor George Knox al 1758, e facevano parte di una serie di quattro dipinti analoghi per tecnica e dimensioni. Due dei dipinti simili ai presenti, New York, collezione Stanley Moss, sono stati pubblicati da Gemin e Pedrocco(cfr. Giambattista Tiepolo.
